Dallas Defense Attorney – Tasha Gupta

My passion for criminal defense comes from my belief that our justice system is often unfair and impacts people who are already struggling and need help, not punishment. Even when people make mistakes, they deserve fairness, dignity, and the opportunity to rebuild their lives.

I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. As a first-generation Indian American, spending summers with family in India showed me how deeply opportunity and access to resources can shape a person’s life.

I majored in economics in college, where I learned how a lack of resources, opportunity, and mental health care can lead people into the justice system and how the incarceration of an individual impacts entire families and communities.

After college, I worked as a consultant at Ernst & Young, where I learned the value of precision, preparation, and strong advocacy which are skills that continue to guide my work as an attorney today. During this time, I also volunteered with Houston Justice, a nonprofit that helps protect the voting rights of eligible voters in jail. While working at a polling location inside the Harris County Jail, I gained a deeper understanding of how many people ended up in difficult situations because of their circumstances. That experience reinforced my belief that justice requires empathy, understanding, and support to move forward.

In law school, I worked with the Southern Methodist University Criminal Clinic, where I saw how having an attorney who truly takes the time to care can make a real difference in a client’s understanding of the legal process and the outcome of their case.

These experiences shaped my approach to criminal defense today and have deepened my commitment to ensuring every client feels heard, supported, and respected.

I believe every person, no matter the charge, deserves exceptional legal representation and someone in their corner who is ready to fight for them.

My goal is to help clients resolve their legal issues and move forward with their lives feeling empowered to start fresh, knowing that one case, one mistake, or one moment does not define who they are or who they can become.
